There are mornings when overwhelm, chaos and uncertainty hit like a bucket of cold water.
You wake feeling scattered, with so many things running around in your mind and so many directions you might follow. All the have-tos compete with the want-tos for attention.
Friction. Overload. Paralysis.
And ultimately, very little gets done.
How often do we tell ourselves, One day…
One day, after I retire, I will…
One day, when I have more time…
One day, when things settle down…
But when is one day?
Retirement can become a euphemism for that imagined time when we stop working at what serves our perceived needs and finally begin doing the things we love.
Yet when that day comes, perhaps we no longer have the energy—or even the direction—we imagined we would have.
How often have we heard:
Start now.
It’s never too late.
Better late than never.
Begin. Now is the time.
It can feel like being offered a magnificent feast of delicious possibilities but being told we must wait for the dinner bell. We experience the pangs of hunger, tantalized by the aromas of what might be, while the door to the dining room remains closed.
That longing can keep us from becoming a more complete version of ourselves.
Balancing reality with dreams can be one of the great roadblocks on life’s journey.
So where are the rest stops?
Where do we pause to replenish, re-vision, renew and restart our engines before continuing the journey?
Perhaps the answers are both within and without.
Getting lost along the way is inherent in the adventures of the heart. We find guides who help with direction. We discover road maps that illuminate part of the way. And gradually we learn to trust that even the potholes, barriers, detours and closures may have something to teach us.
We don’t have to know the entire route before beginning.
Sometimes we simply need to take the next step.
And we don’t have to travel alone.
The CreativeSage journey is waiting.
Are you ready to get on?
