Living in the Question
What does it mean to live in the question?
We hear this phrase as we move along the path of discovery and enlightenment. Certainly, there are many questions to deal with during the course of an ordinary day.
What do I do now?
Who will I see today?
Am I on the right track?
The list goes on.
But what does it really mean to Live in the Question?
Perhaps this is Question with a capital Q—something larger than the everyday questions that ask for immediate answers. There is a sense that the Question may be part of something larger than ourselves.
Thinking about this gives us pause for reflection.
Pause and smell the coffee, perhaps.
Words have been traveling with me since I first read them:
“Immerse yourself in the rapture of music.
You know what you love. Go there.”
—Lorin Roche, The Radiance Sutras, Sutra #18, p 53
Those words have become a guiding light and a beacon for centering and grounding. They invite us toward the knowing of what it is we are meant to do.
Deep within lies an answer. Yet sometimes darkness, fog and murky clouds obscure what we might consider, ponder and reflect upon.
Perhaps we don’t always need to push the fog away.
Perhaps we can live with the Question for a while—listening, wondering and allowing what is not yet clear to unfold.
May that refrain provide a light for whatever it is you are seeking.
For sometimes the power lies not so much in the answers we seek, but in the questions we ask.
Follow your heart, and may blessings come to you.
Grateful for your presence in my life.
